František Janák is a native of Havlíčkobrodský, who trained as a glass cutter and graduated from the Secondary School of Glassmaking in Kamenický Šenov and then from the University of Applied Arts in Prague under the famous professor Stanislav Libenský. František Janák worked at the Institute of Furnishing and Clothing Culture in Prague and then at the Glass School in Kamenický Šenov, firstly as head of the cutting department and then as director and deputy director of the school. Na presente, he deals mainly with fused glass sculpture. He also creates relief portraits of prominent personalities and works in design.
